Welcome to the website of the town of Brandis. In early 2015 we began an extensive overhaul of our existing internet presence.
This forms part of the Saxon Innovation Municipality project. Brandis has been an innovation municipality since 2014 and receives a budget from the Saxon Ministry of the Interior (SMI) for the realisation of innovative approaches for modernising administration, subject to the condition that the projects are transferable to other municipalities in Saxony.
The designation as Saxon Innovation Municipality shows that Brandis is a modern, young and cosmopolitan town. Around 14 percent of our residents are below the age of 15, some 65 percent between the ages of 15 and 65. Families in particular appreciate living in our town and its districts, which have a population of nearly 10,000. A further attraction is naturally our school campus. Here primary school, secondary school and grammar school are all just a few minutes from each other on foot. Right next door is the multi-purpose hall, a venue for fun, games and competitive sports.
35 active clubs and associations, the volunteer fire service and the church parish all contribute to a vibrant sporting and cultural calendar, organising numerous public events, concerts and lectures. Highlights of the year include the new year's gathering on the market place with firework display, maypole raising, the town music festival, the village festival in Polenz, the classic car meet, the Christmas market in Beucha and the Wichtelmarkt in Brandis.
Browsing through our homepage you will find interesting facts regarding history, culture and business, as well as the above-average number of clubs, associations and leisure activities on offer in Brandis and the districts of Beucha and Polenz. I hope that your visit is an enjoyable one – who knows, perhaps you may be encouraged to get to know our town and its inhabitants in person? You are certainly very welcome!
